7:30 a.m. Do you know where the sun is?

November 4th, 2007 · 3 Comments

With our time not changing, the morning sun rises later and later.  This morning I was in the kitchen and opened the window blinds.  7:30 and it was still dark on the the street.  The sun looked like it was just beginning to break the horizon.  Such is life here.
Soon the sun will be out [...]

US Election one year away…

November 4th, 2007 · 2 Comments

Being overseas I get to miss much of the election process, the debates, commercials and all things not so grand (boy, am I relieved…).  However, I found this website to be interesting.  No matter who you think you like as a presidential candidate, this site provides you an opportunity to see whose views are most [...]

Lost in spring…didn’t gain in the fall

November 4th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Last Spring I was in the US when the time changed.  So I lost an hour during the change.  However, now I live in Kazakhstan where the time never changes (which I definitely prefer…wise up America!).  So, this fall, I didn’t gain the hour back.   Did I lose an hour of my life that I [...]

November 4th, 2007 · No Comments

Guess this will be a short night…

Precious people, precious memories

November 2nd, 2007 · No Comments

During the last week, two women from my mom’s church passed away.  Mrs. Cox was 90 years old and had spent the last couple of years in the same nursing home as my mom.  They knew each other from years ago before being reunited as members at Northside Baptist Church in Wichita Falls.  She taught [...]

New Pet Peeve

November 1st, 2007 · No Comments

I receive CNN International.  It is the best (of the worst???) of three English options (others are BBC and Euronews).  With the time change, I receive Anderson Cooper 360 Live here.  They used to broadcast Larry King Live (live) as well, however, he is now on tape delay.  But I digress…
The past two mornings (evening [...]

Religious Freedom

November 1st, 2007 · 2 Comments

Is there a point in our Constitution where our religious freedom infringe upon other people’s freedoms? I ask this question in light of the ruling handed down recently concerning a parent’s right to mourn and the right of people to protest. Read about it here.
A Baptist church in Kansas is standing behind the [...]
