Music

I love music. I can listen to most kinds. I really miss Christian radio from America. What I really wish I was missing is “pop” music from America.

Pop music is everywhere here. In the stores and shops, the market. It seems that American pop music is played everywhere here. I don’t know that many people understand the words, which is the problem.

I was recently told by an American visiting Kiev that pop music in America is somewhat “censored,” meaning that all the really vulgar words are “bleeped” out on the radio. Well, I wish that was the case here!

I have been in stores where what I consider “x-rated” (describing sexual acts, etc) music is playing. Again, it’s unlikely they know what the words mean, they just like the beat.

It’s times like this that I wish we had more control over what we “export” to other countries. I am ashamed of this type of music. Rap tends to be the worst, but it is crossing over to Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and other popular singers.

Oh, how I sometimes long for the “good” ole days…
