Sunday evening found me at Gethsemane church in Donetsk. This is the church I attend the most. I knew showing up so early meant that I would probably be asked to preach and of course, one of the first people I see is Pastor Anatoliy. AND, of course, right away he asked me to preach.
Fortunately, the Lord gave me an idea last Sunday evening while in Lutsk. During the Christmas show last Sunday evening, I was struck by the wise men coming down the isle, looking for the star that would guide them to the babe. As I sat there watching them, my mind was drawn to these verses:
When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.
(Matthew 2:10-11 ESV)
When drawn to a relationship with Jesus, we should experience exceeding joy. When we meet with Jesus, we should worship Him. As as the wise men did, we should give him our best treasures: our gifts, our talents and ourselves.
It was an incredible experience for me. I thoroughly enjoyed sharing the Word tonight.
I shared with them the importance to pray Luke 10:2 and challenged them to join me and others in praying at 10:02 every day until Feb 29. Many indicated that they will join in praying.
I know that the phrase may be overused during the Christmas season, but it is still true: Wise men do still seek Him.
