Be careful what you open…

The last little bit of remodeling could only take place after the heating was turned off in the apartment.  The radiators needed to be cleaned out which required Misha and Sasha to return to my apartment.

They came last Friday and removed all 4 of the radiators with no problem.  They returned on Tuesday morning, expecting a few hours job.  Well… it didn’t exactly turn out that way…

Someone came and turned the water on in the pipes between Friday afternoon and Tuesday morning and when Misha began opening the pipe in the kitchen this is what happened…

Poor Misha took the brunt of the junk that came out of the pipes, along with the wall.  They had to returned the next day to finish the job.  They thought the water was turned off (they had been told it was…), and when they opened the pipe the black junk sprayed all over the room.  I wasn’t around at the time so I didn’t get to take a photo.  However, I did find the stuff everwhere.  There were very few places the junk didn’t get into…

The radiators are all back in place and the wall repainted.  I’m just glad we had the foresight to put caps on all the pipes.  I can only imagine the water being turned on while I slept or worse while I wasn’t home and then my whole apartment (along with my new flooring) would have flooded…

Thanks Misha and Sasha for a job well done…
