I haven’t been in the US at Christmas since December 2002. So, I decided to get up early (not at 5 a.m. when most of the stores opened) and go to a couple of stores to check out their specials.
As I drove up to the Circuit City, I noticed right away that the parking lot was full, the streets were full and people were looking for somewhere to park. That should have been my first clue, but I was determined
I found a spot and walked over to the store. Clue 2 was that there were at least 20 people in every cash register lane and they had registers ALL over the store.
Clue 3 was trying to find someone to help me. It was maddening there. There were sooo many people in the store and the Wichita Falls store is not that big. Now, by this time it was almost 9 a.m. and it was still full of people.
The item I wanted was not on sale and so there was no need for me to stand in line, so I left. I drove to the Best Buy and found a similar situation and so I just gave up. It wasn’t worth it. I heard some people say they saved $800 on some stuff but of course she spent 12 hours in line before the store opened and another 1 1/2 hours finding the stuff and paying for it. Not my idea of getting into the holiday spirit.
