Recently, I posted a story that I haven’t experienced too much culture shock of being in the US for the first time in 2 years. Having been in Wal Mart, the mall, and other shopping places I thought maybe I wouldn’t, but that was before I went to the local hobby shop.
I went to the store to look for something and as I walked into the front door I was taken aback by what I saw. What was it? CHRISTMAS TREES!
Living in the former Soviet Union allows me to not see Christmas trees until after the first of December. They normally put up their trees around the middle of December and the tree takes center stage on January 1 when they exchange gifts. So, since I hadn’t seen any trees at Wal Mart and other places, I had forgotten all about them until I was walking up to the hobby shop.
I walked through the Christmas decorations area just to get the shock out of my system. It was interesting to see all the stuff, and now I can go back to living.
Continuing the journey in Texas!
