I never said I was a trained cook/chef

I love to cook. It started when my mom was in a car accident and she suffered a deep cut on her leg and couldn’t walk/ stand on it. I was in junior high and decided that if I was going to eat, I better learn how to cook.

I worked in the food service industry on a couple of occasions, but that is not the same as preparing stuff from scratch. So, I really don’t know about substituting stuff when you can’t find something or you are out of it.

Anyway, I was preparing some chocolate chip cookies for the students since we are traveling again tomorrow to Kostopol. I had all the ingredients and so started preparing the batter. I had an appointment to get my hair cut so I was hurrying to get the mix prepared and then bake the cookies after my appt. (First mistake…)

I prepared the batter, walked to the barber shop, found out the lady who cuts my hair was sick and not working so I walked back to the apartment. I noticed the batter was not as thick as it usually is, but more like cake batter.

I baked one batch and they looked to thick for chewy cookies like I like them. I tried one and sure enough it was more like a cake cookie. So, I went back to the recipe and discovered that I had used baking powder instead of baking soda. Oh, well. They still taste good…

By the way, my next entry will be number 300! So, I am trying to come up with something special for it! Have a great weekend…
