Well, INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY was yesterday, March 8. I was invited to go to a church service so since I had never been to a Women’s Day service I decided to check it out.
The choir had prepared several numbers, but the best part was the children’s choir and the short program they provided. All the children were decked out in their white shirts, girls in black skirts and boys in black pants. They sure have a thing for black clothing here!
Even the smallest of children, 3 or 4 years old, got into the program. It was very cute and I enjoyed it tremendously. Although I do not have any children of my own, I love children! They are God’s gift to families.
The service, of course, had the traditional three sermons as well. One young brother preached and he was quite good. Then another brother whom I have met on several occasions preached. He is probably one of the most animated Russian preachers I have ever seen!
After the service, I was invited over to celebrate with a family. I enjoyed my time with them and asked lots of questions about things I had observed in the service. My former Russian teacher, Natasha in Kiev, told me I loved to ask questions and I do. It helps me understand their way of thinking and doing things.
I finally arrived home around 7 p.m. A long day, but I enjoyed it. For those women reading this now, Happy Belated Women’s Day!
