It's not only beginning to look like Christmas…

it’s also beginning to FEEL alot like Christmas.  Today I traveled back to Karaganda.  I was so tired after arriving in Astana Saturday morning, that I was afraid to drive home even after I had a nap (or two…).

I left Astana this morning.  I got about 50 km from Astana and noticed that the sun was shining, but I couldn’t see anything below the sun!  Honestly, the wind was blowing so HARD that is was almost impossible to see the car in front of me.  The roads were clear of ice in most cases, but the snow was blowing so hard that it sounded like little pebbles hitting the car occasionally.

I saw the most incredible “rainbow” as well.  It was only one side and one couldn’t see much of it.  It was just to the left of the sun and disappeared into the clouds.  One time it aligned right under the sun.  It was so cool.  Just as I was about to stop and get my camera from the back of the car, it disappeared completely.

After getting home and unloading my car, I changed clothes and picked up some youth to take them to Temirtau to work with the children and youth there.  After finally picking them up (I got stopped by the police… no ticket 🙂 we traveled to Temirtau.  The wind and snow was blowing so hard that cars were stopping on the road.  It was the first time I got a little worried (mostly from cars behind me might not see me in time).  Was it a blizzard?  Don’t know, but I couldn’t see the road  in front of me for several miles…

Weather here is turning COLDER!!!   Our high on Christmas Day is supposed to be -5 (minus 5!!) with a low of -27.  The high on Wednesday is supposed to be -7.  Winter is definitely here…

It’s beginning to feel alot like Christmas… sing it with me…
