As I write today, I am enjoying a bottle of DP! For those of you not in the know, that is DR. PEPPER! Thanks to my friend, Melody, I am enjoying every drop of it.
Dr. Pepper is not available in Ukraine or in Kstan that I know of. Once I found a DP sticker on a business door in Karaganda, but I literally tore the place up looking for it!
Now, I know some of you are probably wondering, “Joe, didn’t you give up sugar drinks.” As a matter of fact, I did. However, I can’t turn down a good gift, now can I?
Back when I was eating anything (and everything!) I loved to get Butterfinger and Reese’s cups from the states, along with other things not available, yet! However, the longer you do without it, you decide that you CAN live without it.
On this diet, I rarely eat potatoes, bread, and pastas, all foods that I love to eat, but I am surviving without them. So, I could live without DP as well, but as I said, it was a gift…!
Since being back in Kiev, I have missed drinking sugar free 7Up and Pepsi. They are not available here, yet! I really like the 7Up! So, when I go back to Kstan this fall, I hope to be able to bring a few bottles back to Kiev.
So, as I sip the fine taste of DP in the coolness of the Kiev breeze this morning (it finally cooled off here!), I say, “here’s to life’s simple pleasures.” Enjoy one of life’s simple pleasures yourself…
