Orthodox Christmas

Saturday, January 7 was Christmas Day in the former Soviet Union. It is still celebrated here according to the old calendar.

Our church had a Christmas morning service and I was asked to sing. I sang “O Holy NIght.” It has to be my favorite Christmas song. I can still remember going to my sister’s Christmas program in Jacksboro, Texas and hearing a middle school student sing that song (that was when you could still speak about God and Jesus at a public school in America!). That song made a huge impression on me!

Several groups sang songs and we sang a couple of Ukrainian Christmas carols as well. There were two really good sermons on the birth of Christ. It was a great service!
