Six weeks makes a BIG difference!

The older I get the more it seems that time really does fly.  Just this week several of my colleagues were here in Karaganda.  One couple is getting ready to go on stateside assignment (furlough) for 9 months.  Someone made the comment that while 9 months seems like a long time, they would be back in Kstan before they would know it!

Well, in mid April, there was a large snow storm in Karaganda while I was in Kyiv.  One friend wrote me and said that it was probably the biggest snow of the season.  Six weeks later and what do we have?!? Heat!  The past few days have really heated up and yesterday the temperature rose to 95.  So, it was kind of nice to get in my car around 1:30 p.m. and turn on the air conditioner.

Very few apartments here have air conditioners.  My apartment does not.  Fortunately, my bedroom is located on a side of our building that doesn’t get any sun in the summer so it doesn’t get as hot as it could…

It’s funny, just 2 months ago I was thinking how “cold” my bedroom was (around 65) and now it is hovering around 80 or so… Six weeks really does make a BIG difference…
