On my way home from Yalta (Donetsk oblast), I bought some tomatoes, cucumbers and new potatoes. Yesterday, at the grocery store I bought a watermelon.
I love summertime in Ukraine. Even though the hot days have arrived and I don’t have a/c in my apartment, I love preparing these fresh veggies. I have already made boiled new potatoes with a cucumber/ tomato salad. Wow, delicious.
Tonight, I just enjoyed some very sweet watermelon. I bought a watermelon off the street in Yalta last weekend for over 4 griven (50 cents) a kilo. The watermelon I am enjoying tonight cost less than 3 griven a kilo and I think it may be even better. Looks like we are going to have a great crop of melons.
Happy eating!
