The game that wasn't

A young college student that attends Grace church invited me to his college basketball game. I had played basketball with Max and several other people on a couple of occasions. Both times, Max showed us he was better than any of us.

Well, I was excited about the prospect of seeing my first Ukrainian college basketball game. Now, don’t get me wrong. I wasn’t expecting 20,000 screaming fans with the pep band playing.

I know that basketball is just catching on here, but after seeing Max’s level of playing I knew the competition couldn’t be all bad. So, I met Max at the school where they play. I almost got lost going down all the corridors to get to the gym.

Most gyms that I have been in here have a small sitting area above the gym. So, you are sitting a little above eye level with the rim. Not bad! There were about 10 people watching the game that was scheduled before Max’s. I got to watch the first place team demolish the other school.

There were a couple of guys on the really good team that could dunk, so it was fun to see them get in some break aways. Also, they played a good press defense.

It’s a good thing that I got to see most of that game as the team that was supposed to play Max’s team didn’t show up and the game was canceled. Well, maybe next time. It was fun to get to see a little basketball.
