During the last 3 months I have had a great time traveling around the US. For more than 5 weeks I drove from Wichita Falls to many points east and then back to Texas. And, while it was a grueling time of sleeping out of a suitcase for 5 weeks, I enjoyed it.
I took the trip partly to see some areas of country in the Fall and to see some leaves changing color. Unfortunately, I was probably a couple of weeks early as most of the trees had not started changing color.
Along the way, I got to meet some wonderful people and see some ministries that are really making a difference in their communities. The one I was most impressed with was the Veteran’s Restoration Quarters in Asheville, NC. This ministry purchased a motel and turned it into a place where homeless vets can get off the streets. They provide job training, warm meals and support to the veteran.
I think one of the most beautiful drives is along I-40 on the NC/TN border. The view of the Great Smoky Mountains is spectacular. The only negative was I couldn’t find a safe place to pull over to take a picture so that view will have to stay a mental vision.
I have one last out of state trip planned for this weekend. Then I will spend the month of December in Texas before heading back to Donetsk on January 2. God has blessed me with some wonderful memories…
