What will 2013 bring?

During the last several weeks, I have been seeking the Lord concerning a scripture passage to be my focus during 2013.  I attended church last night and one brother’s sermon brought my attention to a passage from Colossians 3: 12-17

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,  bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.  And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.  And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
I highlighted some things that stuck out for me…

It is my prayer that the Father break me of a judgmental attitude that I have from time to time and give me a compassionate heart, full of kindness, a willingness to be humble, meek and patient.  And when necessary, to seek forgiveness and be willing to forgive.  And, in a continuation from last year, be even more loving.  Be thankful for what the Lord is doing in my life and dwell in His Word.

Please feel free to ask me anytime about these things.  I want to be held accountable.

Two things have happened to me in the last 24 hours that may be leading me to take even a greater step of faith in trusting the Father.  I do not wish to “publish” these in an open forum just yet, but if you are interested in knowing how to specifically pray for me, send me an email.

May we do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus.  Happy New Year!

  1. Joe;
    Thank you for this word today. I really needed it. I have been dealing with anger in recent days. I know I must have a forgiving spirit and a compassionate heart.
