On my return trip from Pavlodar on Monday I saw an immense wildfire.  The landscape between Astana and Pavlodar isn’t remarkable.  There are rolling hills, with few trees or cities.

As I drove past the wildfire I realized that the earth had been scorched for as far as the eye could see on the south of the road.  I began to pray.  Not for the wildfire because there just isn’t much to be burned except the brush that grows in those parts.  I prayed for God to stir the hearts of believers.

I assume (rightly or wrongly) that this wildfire was probably started by a cigarette butt or possibly a lightning strike.  If it was a butt, it only took a spark to ignite the dry ground that quickly spread for as far as I could see.

Wouldn’t it be great if evangelicals were sparked to witness and share with others?  What would happen if we began to take the Gospel seriously?  I was instantly convicted in my soul because I know I don’t share freely this gift that I have received.

Since then, I have been given the opportunity to act upon this conviction.  Isn’t God great?  Pray that I will remain “on fire” to live the life God has called me to live out…
